Making a Difference

 

     
                                                		For every closed transaction I close, I will donate a percentage of my commission to The Children's Hospital of Colorado.  The donation will go to help kids with heart and lung problems. 

It was June 9, 1952 at Saint Luke's Hospital in Denver, when baby Randy entered this world.  Doctors were very concerned with his condition as he wasn't breathing right and his heart was having trouble functioning properly.  He was rushed to the nearby Children's Hospital for further testing and observation.  He was diagnosed with infantile emphysema. Over the next two and a half years of his life, Randy would live at The Children's Hospital.  During that time he underwent 7 surgeries on his heart and was the first baby to ever survive a pneumonectomy (the removal of a lung).  His case has been published in many medical journals and is still recognized as a medical "Miracle." 

 

Randy has faced much adversity throughout his childhood including an abusive father, the death of his father at 20, and two nearly fatal car accidents.  Despite these adversities, Randy has never let them get the best of him.  He has persevered through all of this by never letting the goals he has out of sight; and in turn has a successful career and a loving family.

 

Today my father, Randy Heldenbrand is taking it easy and enjoying all that life has to offer him.  He is currently a volunteer on the 9th floor in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit and the Clinical Translational Research Center (Children with long term lung diseases) at The Children's Hospital. 

 

Without this wonderful hospital and the talented doctors on staff, I would not be here today to tell you his story. 

 

I feel that giving back to the hospital that performed such a miracle is an honor.
